First Outdoor Movie Night

Thank you everyone for making last night an exceptional success! (For those who didn’t know what it was all about, check out here!)

Here are our photos!

Once again, “Fighter In The Wind” is about our Grandmaster, Mas Oyama, founder of Kyokushin Karate! If you missed it, you got to watch it and it will give you more insights about our style of full contact karate!

Yio Chu Kang Karate Dojo will compile all the feedback forms and see if we should continue organizing such outdoor movie night events!

2 more days to Outdoor Movie Night!

Outdoor Movie Night

If you have been following us, right after the recent karate grading, the next upcoming event that we are all looking forward to is…

Outdoor Movie Night on 19 Dec 2015 (Sat), 7pm – 9pm @ Yio Chu Kang Karate Dojo! (Free admission)

The very first of its kind, this outdoor movie night is proudly organized and sponsored by the seniors.
The objectives are:

  • Bond and build relationship within existing members and their families.
  • Appreciate our Karate history (after all, Kyokushin Karate has been known as the strongest karate)
  • Raise awareness of Kyokushin Karate to members of public

Since this is an outdoor event, there are a few things that you might want to take note of.

  1. Temperature is pretty much up to the weather (which is pretty cooling these days) and no fans are sponsored this time round.
  2. You want to bring your food and drinks, for yourself or to share with us. Some of us are ordering 4-6 boxes of pizza to share around though.
  3. If you are not comfortable with sitting on the ground, you might want to bring your own mat or chairs.
  4. Depending on situation, the venue will either be at Blk 618 or Blk 614 (we previously heard that there was another event that may affect our event on the 19th)

Last thing, but most important of all, if you like to find out more information about Kyokushin Karate, us or just about anything related to Yio Chu Kang Karate, drop us a message or approach us on the night.

And if you like to see more of such events coming up, let us know, and let us know what type of movie interests you!

Over here once again, we have to give credits to Master David Lee for supporting this event and making it happen, not forgetting to mention the seniors (Weimin, Yusheng, Pengboon and Zhihao) for sponsoring much of the event cost!

Looking forward to see you guys there that night!

Last Friday

Besides the usual Kihon Training, drills, sparring techniques and body conditioning, time to time we also put our focus and techniques to test by performing the Taemeshiwari, which is also known better as “Tiles breaking.”

During grading, Taemeshiwari is a requirement for Green Belts (4th Kyu) and above. By the outcome of the tiles, we could tell if the tiles were broken by sheer brute force or actual use of intense focus. Check out what Matthew did last Friday.

Matthew is a blue belt (8th Kyu) and hence it is pretty remarkable even though it was only a single tile. Another major part of breaking is believing in yourself that you can cut through the stack of tiles with your bare hands. Failing to eliminate that self-limiting belief will not only result in failure to break the tiles, but also may result in possible injuries.

In any case, we are very excited for the upcoming event on the 19 Dec 2015 (Sat) 7pm!
For the first time, Yio Chu Kang Karate Dojo is holding an outdoor movie event featuring a movie that talks about our grandmaster, a well-known martial artist in Japan and today its art has spread all over the world – renowned as the Strongest Karate.
